Mitchell Thomas

Chief Financial Officer

As chief financial officer for Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital, Mitchell Thomas is responsible for accounting, finance and all aspects of the revenue cycle (registration, billing, collections, managed care contracting), as well as treasury, purchasing and materials management.

Mr. Thomas previously served as chief financial officer for large health systems such as PIH Health (which includes Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital in Whittier), Providence Health & Services (which comprises two medical centers in the San Fernando Valley), and Tenet Healthcare Corporation.

A certified public accountant and certified management accountant, Mr. Thomas has also earned the highest level of certification from the Healthcare Financial Management Association (fellow), his profession’s national umbrella group. Mr. Thomas holds a BS in accounting from Cal State Northridge, and an MBA from Cal State University of Los Angeles, where he taught undergraduate and graduate accounting courses Mr. Thomas is an active member of his community, including service on the City of Burbank Planning Board and on the Burbank Chamber of Commerce board, where he led as president. He has also been a board member for the nonprofit community organization Leadership Burbank, and served on the Board of Regents for Providence High School.

Married with three children, Mr. Thomas is an avid cyclist. He also serves as treasurer for his son’s Boy Scout troop, which he has done for 13 years.
