Myrna Allen, MSN, RN

Chief Operating/Nursing Officer

Myrna Allen is chief operating officer/chief nursing officer. She brings more than 30 years of clinical leadership expertise to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital’s (MLKCH) executive team. She has worked at various Southern California and New Mexico hospitals as well as having been an owner of her own lobby and consulting firm in Sacramento devoted to state health care and regulatory issues.

Ms. Allen has extensive hospital administrative experience including serving as an administrator, acting chief executive officer, chief operating officer and director of nursing services. Prior to joining MLKCH, Ms. Allen was a senior consultant with California Health and Wellness Plan, a commercial Medi-Cal plan that launched in 2013for the expansion of Medi-Cal Managed Care in 19 rural counties in California.

Committed to the nursing profession, Ms. Allen remains an active member of the Association of Nurse Leaders, American Nurses Association/CA and Organization of Nurse Executives. She was a California governor appointee to the California Medical Assistance Commission and the California Department of Consumer Affairs for the board of Registered Nursing. In addition, she volunteers with Smiles International and has traveled to Mexico, Ukraine, India and Africa to provide cleft lip/palate surgical procedures.

Ms. Allen is a registered nurse and received her nursing education in Des Moines, Iowa, has a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from New York Regents, a Bachelor of Science in healthcare services from Chapman University and her Masters of Science in Nursing Degree from University of California, San Francisco.
