Vice President, Marketing and Communications
Tobey Robertson joined the executive team in November, 2015. She brings
more than 15 years of healthcare marketing and communications experience
to Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital. Prior to joining MLKCH,
she served for four years as the director of business development at Ballard
Rehabilitation Hospital in San Bernardino, where she was responsible for
overseeing all revenue-producing operations including sales, marketing
and admissions. Before her tenure at Ballard, Ms. Robertson worked for
10 years as director of marketing and communications for Community Hospital
of San Bernardino, a private, nonprofit, safety net hospital with 343 beds.
Tobey has earned numerous awards for innovative marketing and communications
programs from the Public Relations Society of America and the Healthcare
Public Relations and Marketing Association. She was recognized as a Hospital
Hero by the National Healthcare Foundation in the inaugural year of the program.
A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Ms. Robertson interrupted her senior year
of high school to accept an American Field Service scholarship for a year
of study in Argentina. She attended a year of high school in Mar del Plata,
living with a family in which both parents were physicians. Due to that
experience, she is currently fluent in Spanish. Ms. Robertson holds a
bachelor’s degree in English literature and creative writing from
Dartmouth College. She lives with her husband, Scott, and two young adult
children in Fontana.
