A DAF is an investment account that allows you to support charitable organizations you care about. You can open a DAF with a financial institution or community foundation with a minimum contribution amount and receive an immediate tax deduction. Then, you recommend that grants be made to us from your DAF. Because this gift comes from funds you have already set aside for charitable giving, there is no impact on your spendable income.

If you are age 70½ or older you can transfer up to $100,000 from your individual retirement account (IRA) directly to MLKCH—tax free. This popular gift option maximizes the benefit to you and our patients, families and community. Simply make the request to your IRA administrator and let us know in advance of your gift.

Giving securities, stock and mutual funds is a tax-savvy way to improve the health of South LA. When you give stock, you can reduce or even eliminate federal capital gains taxes on the transfer. You may also be entitled to an income tax charitable deduction based on the fair market value of the securities at the time of transfer.
